Snowberry
La Baie des neiges - السنفورينة / حب الثلج
Description
This bushy shrub, native to the American continent, produces pretty white and pink berries (poisonous to humans) as well as flowers. Able to withstand the cold as well as fire, it is surely one of the hardiest plants in the garden.
There used to be a whole grove of them near the statue of Khalil Gibran. Today, only two remain, making them something of a rare treasure.

Poem
An Evening in the Garden
To Elie Tyan
Life is a gift
Where the hand of spring
Connects the flow of time
Through a ray of light.
And from this Gordian knot,
Death cuts into the bark,
And breaks the bond
Of the weakened sap.
But the flower’s seed
Continues to produce
Here and elsewhere,
The fruits of its felicity;
Joy and happiness.
And the spirit’s rose
Where blossoms
The incredible mystery
Of a fiery kiss
Always reignites
To show the drama
Of the eternal return
Of man and woman
Day and night!…
I am sure that now,
Like a lover
In the arms of its partner,
Nature is happy;
And that looking down
The good Lord is pleased!…
