Stepping into Charles Corm’s House (all ages, guided tour)
Discover the writer, industrialist, and philanthropist Charles Corm through a tour of his incredible house. A brief walk through the garden and its plants is included. This tour is a perfect introduction for first time visitors, combining history, literature, and design. The visit is adapted according to the students’ age group. An activity booklet with original colour illustrations is available in three languages to dig deeper.

The Garden Trail (all ages, tour and workshops)
A secret garden lies hidden in the very heart of Beirut. Discover the giant bamboos, Egyptian papyrus and the large plant nursery. This tour is ideal for those who have already visited the house. It combines botany and literature, as Charles Corm , founder of the Society of the Friends of Trees, wrote poems about nearly every plant in the garden! An activity booklet with original colour illustrations is available to extend the visit in French, Arabic & English. Seasonal workshops focusing on the garden’s plants and eco-preservation are also available. Please contact us for more information.
3.
Traveling with the Phoenicians (workshop for 10 to 14-year olds)
Embark on a discovery of the mysterious Phoenicians, so dear to Charles Corm, through several key themes: Masters of the Sea, Exceptional Craftsmen and Phoenician Gods. This workshop was created with the help of the Chair for Phoenician Studies at the Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth.
4.
Lebanon’s industrialisation (tour and workshop, 10-14-year olds)
Coming out of the First World War which was so devastating for Lebanon, the country embarks on rapid modernisation. From factories to roads, the face of the land changes. A little bit like Charlie Chaplin’s main character in his magnificent film “Modern Times” the tour will show students many examples of the machines that helped this modernisation: from Ford’s Model T automobile assembled in Beirut, to Charles Edison’s dictaphone and David Gestetner’s photocopier – the Foundation is full of industrial treasures!
5.
Lebanese francophone authors 1919-1939 (workshop for 10-14-year olds in French only)
The author of The Hallowed Mountain (1934) wrote in French and yet proudly affirmed his Lebanese identity. Discover the writings of an entire generation of Lebanese authors who wrote in French, such as Hector Khlat, Evelyne Bustros, Saïd Akl and others through original editions, letters, photographs and newspaper clippings.
6.
Archival History (workshop, 14 year plus)
Through the study and analysis of original documents — letters, news clippings, photographs — participants can reconstruct historical moments through personal stories. Attendants are encouraged to reflect on points of views, the presence or absence of marginalized voices, and the choices behind what was recorded or left unsaid. Led by professional historians, this workshop draws on the wealth of our archival collection.
