Poem
The Blade of Grass
Have you ever picked up a blade of grass,
In the palm of your hand and take a good look?
No scholar, no poet, no word, no verb
Could bestow a worthy description!
Painters, sculptors, engravers, architects,
Goldsmiths, chisellers and artists,
All their infinite genius, past and future,
Are incapable – no matter their efforts
To reproduce a single bit of this blade
That no one bothers to see and tramples on so carelessly!
Have you ever taken the time, oh bitter sceptics,
To contemplate up close
The living miracle of a tiny blade of grass?
